New Zealand celebrates National Recycling Week
October 21, 2019
This week New Zealand is celebrating National Recycling Week, encouraging people to be conscious of their disposal practices and adopt recycling habits.
Projections anticipate with current population trends, and without intervention, the annual amount of waste to landfills will almost double to 1.6 million tonnes of waste within 10 years in Auckland alone1.
New Zealand made a commitment during 2018 to ensure all of their packaging would be reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025 or earlier2.
The commitment was made by both New Zealand environmental ministers and 12 local and international businesses.
The businesses included multinationals such as Danone, L’Oréal, Mars, PepsiCo, The Coca-Cola Company, Unilever and Nestlé.
This aligns with a commitment these international businesses have made as signatories to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy initiative.
Also a signatory of the New Plastics Economy initiative, Detpak as part of the Detmold Group is taking steps to innovate and elimate single-use plastics and move to sustainable packaging solutions.
During New Zealand's National Recycling Week, we encourage our customers to review their packaging needs and reflect on where they can move to a recyclable option to support a circular economy.
Our Endura range offers unlined carton and tray products which are recyclable, but doesn't compromise on strength of functionality.
Made with a sturdy, corrugated fluted board, this range is ideal for food on the go.
